About Me
My Qualifications
My name is Vicki, I am a qualified and experienced personal trainer working from my private studio in Throop Bournemouth. In August 2005 I completed a 12 week full time diploma with Premier training international, one of the UK's most recognised and reputable fitness training providers. The course was divided into 3 sections, the first to become a qualified fitness instructor which also included emergency first aid. The second part took a more in depth look into human anatomy and exercise programs. It also included GP referrals which means that we had to study medical conditions that could be improved by an exercise program. This part of the course would allow me to work as a personal trainer. The last part was for sports massage, although this involved mostly massage we still had to do plenty of theory work on the lymphatic and circulatory systems whilst increasing our knowledge and experience in the gym.
To pass the diploma we had to face both written and practical exams for all 3 sections to ensure that we were competent enough to teach safe and effective exercise techniques.
In September 2007 I qualified as a Boxercise instructor, for more information on Boxercise classes please click on the link to the left.
Being qualified as a personal trainer I am now a member of the register of exercise professionals, at level 3. All personal trainers listed with REP's have to be fully qualified, maintain their knowledge by completing further courses and be fully insured. This is certainly the first place to look when deciding on a personal trainer. You can view my entry at REP's by clicking on their logo in the top left corner of this page and searching my member number of R0034467.
My Experience
After I qualified in 2005 I began training clients from their own homes. In February 2006 the opportunity arose to take over a private studio in Throop, Bournemouth. Since then my client base has been growing with most new clients a result of word of mouth. Every client differs in terms of their short and long term goals, however my best results have been in the following areas:
Weight loss & general toning up
Increasing Fitness levels
Increasing muscular capacity
Rehabilitation of injuries
Teaching clients to enjoy exercise!
Although I only qualified in 2005, I feel this makes my passion for my job even stronger, there is no sense of staleness as I know other personal trainers who have worked in the industry over 15 years suffer from. My knowledge is also fresh and up to date, I am always revising the latest fitness trends by subscribing to industry magazines, searching the internet, buying plenty of books and taking more courses and exams.
Plans for the Future
I would like to complete an exercise to music course to enable me to vary the aerobic sessions with more advanced clients.
I am hoping to attend the Loughborough convention in 2008 as I would love to be able to speak to different people in the industry and take part in the lectures that internationally known fitness Guru's and trainers speak and demonstrate at.
As I am already qualified to train clients with medical conditions I am hoping to widen the awareness of exercise during pregnancy, perhaps holding exercise classes for mums to be.
